Your young, active, over 55s local community.
In 2013 it was recognised that there were no leisure activity for over 55s and retired in Bicknacre, except for a monthly sewing group and church.
Hence Bicknacre Lunch Club was formed offering a forum for friendship over lunch at the local pub. Six people came to that first lunch…

A tribute to Lesley & Derek Ruse
In 2025 when the club was 12 years old, it celebrated a landmark year, as it entered the techno world with a dedicated website. This has only been possible for the financial commitment and generosity of Lesley & Derek Ruse, who have enabled the club to engage a web design company to develop a website.

BVFC believes money should never get in the way of friendship. It is a Community Organisation, run by volunteers, with a true community spirit. It does not charge membership fees and any event it runs is based on a break even basis. As a result the club does not have the funds of its own to support development of this nature.
In 2024 the club witnessed the sad closure of In-Touch Magazine. A local source of community news, ran by Lesley & Derek for over 50 years.
From the very beginning of the club in 2013, In-Touch has continually supported it with free advertising. This made it possible to reach out and bring friendship to so many local residents, making it possible for them to enjoy the friendship the Club offers.
This website will make it possible to stretch out its hand of friendship in a new way to so many more people.
At our 2024 Christmas Party it gave us great pleasure to present flowers and to thank Lesley & Derek for making it possible and ironically, for making it possible to continuously bring community news to the area.
EVENTS FOR 2025
Come and join us on our much loved events...
We look forward to seeing you.
Our Magical Christmas Market
AS a Club we have fun getting together for the benefit of the community and lots of us enjoy getting involved in organising various events some, just enjoy going to them. One things for sure, we all enjoy them in one way or another. Such as our Magical Christmas Market.
For four years local children have looked forward to meeting Santa while their Parents browse the wonderful array of craft and gift stalls, or just enjoy a glass of mulled wine or a cuppa and mince pies. It’s a really great place to Christmas shop. But, most of all is the enjoyment we see on the Children’s faces, it truly is Magical.
BVFC are proud to bring the spirit of Christmas to local residents and those from further afield.
In 2025 we are excited to introduce our first Vintage Bazaar. Woodham Ferrers Village Hall will be decked out in bunting and everything vintage. Stallholders are getting excited and ready to dress up appropriately. There will be a Pin the Tail on the Donkey & a Miniature Garden Competition for the children, Vintage Café and Vintage music adding to the atmosphere. Of course, It wouldn’t be complete without a home made cake stall as well as lots of interesting stalls to ‘jog the memory’. It’s all set to be another successful event for BVFC.
